Okay, so I know I have been back from Quilt Market in Salt Lake City for a whole week now and I haven’t told you a thing about it!! Today, I want to share with you the very most exciting news from my market trip! There are lots of other things to tell you (and I will in later blogs), but this one thing is the coolest thing!!
Okay, are you ready?? Here goes…..
The quilts I designed for Troy using Marcia Derse’s fabric lines are going to be published in Quilting Arts Magazine!!!!
I am just too excited about this and have been busting at the seams to tell you!! I had two quilts and a table runner I had designed. Many of you have seen these in the shop for short periods as I was working on them, or as I blogged about them. One quilt and a quilt-as-you-go table runner were designed from Marcia’s third fabric line titled “Third in Line”. The most recent quilt is from her newest line titled “Shoreline” and we don’t even have the fabric yet. It will be shipping in early to mid-June! I don’t know any details, other than that they want the patterns, and they already took the actual table runner from the Troy booth home with them for photo shoots! The Editor-in-Chief of Quilting Arts Magazine, Pokey Bolton herself selected these quilts!!
I was trying to wait until I had more details about what exactly was going to be featured, and which issue, etc., but I couldn’t wait any longer!! Pokey has a blog with Quilting Arts, and she also blogged about Marcia’s line of fabric. My quilts are not in the photos there, but of all that market had to offer, this line and another from Troy were all she blogged about!! You can see her blog and interview with Marcia taken in her designer’s booth on the Quilting Arts blog site.
You want to see pictures?? Well even if you don’t, here they are anyway! These are my quilt designs hanging in the Troy booth.
Lastly, I will show you Marcia’s booth at market. It was with the Troy booth, but yet a separate entity. My quilts were actually in the Troy booth. And by the way, the entire booth was decorated with the fabrics from Third in Line. Here is Marcia in her booth….
As you can see, I have been very busy with all this!! I was asked to start designing quilts late last fall, and it has kept me very busy. So much so, I am not getting everything else done that I want to like our Embroid-a-block BOM or a spring and summer Class schedule! Rest assured though, I am working on both of these things, but I first have to finish writing the pattern for the Shoreline quilt so we can get it to Quilting Arts!
If anyone wants the patterns for the Modern Continuity quilts, I will have them as free handouts in the shop next week, and of course, as soon as I have the Shoreline pattern written, we will have that when the fabric comes in. That one will also be kitted up, so let us know if you are interested in reserving a kit!
One last note - we will be closed Memorial Day weekend, Sat, Sun, and Mon May 28 – 30. Have a wonderful holiday! See you soon….. Patti

Patti, I’m so excited for you! I absolutely love the quilt you designed with the Shoreline fabrics; I’ll definitely be wanting a kit. And maybe you should just hold onto the entire fabric line for me; it’s gorgeous and I don’t think I can share it! If only I had more money than I knew what to do with. Thanks for sharing your wonderful news.
Thank-you so much for your excitement!! I was hoping everyone else would be as excited as I am! I will be keeping everyone posted as fabric comes in and kits become available! And, of course, when the magazine articles will be published! We will have to Par-ty!
Wow! I know someone famous! Congratulations!!!
RuthC,
I don’t know about famous, but I will be happy to sign and autograph you copy of Quilting Arts when this all gets published! You never know, it might be a collector’s item some day – HA-HA!!
WoooHoooo! Way to go Patti…
Congratulations!! I am very impressed and hope all goes smoothly with the publication of your design.
